An apostille is an authentication certificate that makes a US-issued document legally valid in any country that is a member of the Hague Apostille Convention. Apostilles are valid only for Hague Convention countries. As of 2024, most countries (including China and Canada) are Hague members. A few common non-Hague countries (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Egypt) require a different authentication process called embassy legalization.
