The M Broxson Notary difference

Your ceremony AND your legal marriage. One professional.

In Alabama, your marriage is made legal by a notarized Marriage Certificate, not by the ceremony itself. Most officiants can perform the ceremony but can't handle the legal paperwork. As a licensed notary AND ordained officiant, I do both. Your ceremony AND your legal marriage, handled by one trusted professional in one beautiful day.

About your officiant

Meet Reverend Malia.

"There's something sacred about being trusted to officiate the moment two people promise their lives to each other. I take that trust seriously."

I'm Malia Broxson, an ordained wedding officiant through American Marriage Ministries and a licensed Alabama notary public. As both your officiant and notary, I bring something to your wedding day that most officiants can't: I handle the ceremony you've been dreaming of AND the legal paperwork that makes it official, all in one seamless service.

Frequently asked

Wedding questions.

Do you officiate same-sex weddings?
Yes. I welcome all couples regardless of orientation, faith, or background. Every love deserves to be celebrated.
Can you write a custom ceremony?
Absolutely. The Custom Ceremony package includes a fully personalized script written specifically for you, based on your love story, values, and preferences. We collaborate through multiple revisions until it feels perfectly you.
What religions can you officiate?
All faiths, secular ceremonies, and interfaith ceremonies. I can incorporate religious elements, prayers, readings, and traditions from your faith tradition, or create a fully secular ceremony based on your values.
How does the marriage certificate work in Alabama?
Alabama eliminated marriage licenses in 2019. Instead, couples sign an Alabama Marriage Certificate affidavit that must be notarized and filed with any Alabama probate court. As your officiant AND notary, I handle both the ceremony and the on-site notarization. I can also file the certificate at the probate court for you for an additional fee.
How far in advance should we book?
I recommend booking 6 to 12 months in advance for peak season (April through October), and 3 to 6 months for off-season dates. For elopements and intimate ceremonies, shorter notice is often possible.
What's your cancellation policy?
A 50% non-refundable deposit secures your date. If you cancel more than 90 days before the wedding, your remaining balance is refundable. Within 90 days, the deposit is non-refundable but may be applied to a rescheduled date within 12 months. Full terms are in our standard wedding contract.
Can you officiate AND notarize the certificate?
Yes. This is our specialty and your biggest advantage in working with us. Most Alabama officiants can perform the ceremony but cannot notarize the marriage certificate. I do both, on-site, included in every package.
