How deposits, refunds, and cancellations work for each of our services.
Malia Broxson, LLC, doing business as M Broxson Notary, strives to provide reliable, professional service for every client. Our cancellation and refund policy is designed to be fair to both our clients and our business. The following principles apply to all services:
If we cancel for any reason, you receive a full refund of any deposit or payment. If you cancel within the timeframes outlined below, the cancellation terms specific to your service apply.
Payment is due at the time of service. No deposit is required for routine mobile notary appointments.
Client Cancellation:
Provider Cancellation: If we cancel for any reason (illness, emergency, scheduling conflict), no charge applies and we will work to reschedule at your convenience.
Payment terms for loan signings are governed by the agreement with the title company, lender, or signing service that retained us. Most loan signings operate on a per-signing fee basis with payment within standard industry timeframes (typically 30-45 days).
Borrower No-Shows: If a borrower fails to appear for a scheduled signing, the title company is billed the agreed signing fee for our travel and time.
Title Company Cancellations: Cancellations made by the title company or signing service are handled per their terms. If we have already printed documents or begun travel, a partial fee may apply.
Provider Cancellation: If we cancel for any reason, no charge applies. We will work with the title company to reschedule or refer to another signing agent if needed.
Full payment is required before we submit your documents to the Alabama Secretary of State or US Department of State.
Refund Eligibility:
Government Agency Delays: Processing times for the Alabama Secretary of State and US Department of State are estimates. We are not responsible for delays caused by government agency backlogs and cannot refund based on processing time alone.
Provider Cancellation: If we cancel for any reason, you receive a full refund including any government filing fees paid on your behalf.
Payment is due at the time of service. No deposit is required for routine fingerprinting appointments.
Client Cancellation:
Quality Rejection by Receiving Agency: If your fingerprint cards are rejected by the FBI or another receiving agency due to our technique or print quality, we will redo the prints at no charge. Rejections due to factors outside our control (your skin condition, ridge wear, temporary factors like dryness or recent injury) may require multiple attempts; these are not eligible for free redos but we will work with you to achieve acceptable prints.
Provider Cancellation: If we cancel for any reason, no charge applies and we will reschedule at your convenience.
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your wedding date. The remaining 50% balance is due 30 days before the wedding date.
Client Cancellation:
Rescheduling: If you need to reschedule rather than cancel, we will work with you to find a new date within 12 months at no additional charge, subject to availability. If we are not available on your new desired date, the cancellation terms above apply.
Provider Cancellation: In the extremely rare event we must cancel (serious illness, family emergency), you will receive a full refund of all amounts paid, including the deposit. We maintain relationships with other Birmingham officiants and will provide referrals to help you find a replacement on short notice.
Notarization-Only Service ($50): Travel-included notarization service. If cancelled more than 24 hours before, full refund. Less than 24 hours, no refund.
Force Majeure: In the event of natural disasters, government-mandated event cancellations, or other circumstances beyond our control, we will work in good faith to reschedule or partially refund as appropriate to the circumstances.
To cancel an appointment or request a refund, please contact us as soon as possible:
Refunds are processed within 5 to 10 business days through the original payment method.
If you have a concern about a charge or refund, please contact us first to resolve the issue directly. Most disputes can be resolved quickly through direct communication. For unresolved disputes, our Terms of Service govern the resolution process.
We may update this Refund and Cancellation Policy from time to time. Changes apply to bookings made after the change date. Existing bookings remain governed by the policy in effect at the time of booking.
